Other Events
In addition to our regular classes, we often have additional events. Not all of these occur every year - it just depends on whether we have someone able and willing to make them happen! If there's a group activity your family would like to participate in that you don't see listed, you are welcome to suggest it or plan it yourself! We are always open to new ideas.
Parent Night
One or more times during the year we hold a "Parent Night," sometimes also called "Friends and Family Night." This is an opportunity for our students and teachers to share what they have been learning in class. Family members, friends, and anyone else who is interested are all welcome to attend.
Field Day
Field day is a fun opportunity to get outdoors and get moving. This may include races and other outdoor games, kayaking, and a picnic.
Field Trips
We sometimes organize field trips to various nearby locations to take advantage of cheaper group rates. We often attend Children's Theater shows at Longwood University when those are available.
Science Fair
A science fair was held in Spring 2016. Students prepared projects and presentations at home over the course of the spring, and displayed them at our spring Parent Night. This was a big success, so we hope to do it again!
Parties
A few times each year, we take time out of regular classes for a fun party day. This usually includes a Christmas party and an End of Year party. At our parties, we enjoy food, games, and some casual social time with friends.
Spelling Bees
Spelling bees were held periodically throughout the year, usually at the end of our usual class time.
